NTU CAC Arts From The Heart

About Us

The NTU Cultural Activities Club (CAC) is one of the four non-academic constituent clubs in the university, established with the aim of fostering greater cultural awareness and interests among the NTU student population.

CAC is an umbrella organisation consisting of 23 member clubs, 5 support committees and 5 special projects, working hand in hand as staunch advocates of the performing arts. The club continues to attain considerable popularity and recognition within the university as well as from the public in our mission to promote a vibrant campus experience through activities pertaining to the performing arts and cultural activities. In CAC, there is always room for all of our members to shine regardless of our diverse interests and motivations – represented through our slogan ‘Many Faces, One Club’.

More than 500 students join the CAC family every year to pursue their passion in the performing arts and event management, making the club one of the largest student organisations in NTU. Besides the new faces that join our large family, CAC also enjoys continual support from our alumni in our journey to nurture the artistic talents of NTU and transform the university into an arts and cultural hub worthy of international mention.

Arts From The Heart is a Special Project under NTU CAC. Established in 2004, the NTU CAC Arts From The Heart (AFTH), formerly known as CAC External Performance is an annual Charity Project organised by the club. As the charity arm of NTU CAC, our vision is to help the less fortunate in the society by involving all our 24 member clubs and integrating each member club’s specialisation to put up an extravagant performance.

Through the 18 years of operation, AFTH has supported many other non-profit organisations such as the Down Syndrome Association, Chen Su Lan Methodist Children’s Home and Asian Women’s Welfare Association – Teach Me services, Club Rainbow, Dyslexia Association of Singapore, Singapore Children’s Society, The Salvation Army, Singapore Cancer Society, Singapore Association for Mental Health and Samaritans of Singapore.

What We Hope For

Our primary aim is to help the less fortunate and do our part for the society. In addition, we hope to promote the Arts through performances by our 23 CAC member clubs.

The AFTH Carnival is an annual event which NTU CAC Arts From The Heart holds to raise funds for our beneficiary. The AFTH Carnival 2019 was successfully pulled off and $17,000 was raised and donated to the Singapore Cancer Society (SCS). We are also honoured to be awarded People’s Choice for the Social Impact Week 2020 exhibition.

In view of the precautionary measures taken to tackle COVID-19, the physical Carnival was cancelled in 2020 and 2021. Despite the cancellation of the physical Carnival, we are humbled to announce that $7.5k has been raised for our beneficiaries through our virtual fundraising efforts in 2021.

Through our efforts, we seek not to only promote the arts, but also to raise funds and increase awareness for our beneficiaries. This year, we are continuing our partnership with Singapore Association for Mental Health for the second consecutive year, and Samaritans of Singapore on board with us as our second partner beneficiary.

What We Do

Have you ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes of preparing for a carnival? How a carnival can be used to give back to the society? In our first ever interview, AFTH Talks, we invited some of our committee members from each portfolio to share their experiences over the past year in AFTH! If you would like to know more about what we do, do give this video a watch!
